Meet our second Fellow of the Month, Delta Milayo Ndou
Delta is an award-winning blogger and journalist whose writing sets her apart as a controversial figure in Zimbabwe’s highly conservative society.
Through writing she challenges culture, patriarchy, tradition, religion and the law wherever and whenever these institutions are employed to oppress, marginalise or discriminate against women.
Her interests include development, women empowerment, human rights advocacy, gender and media as well as democracy. She also writes in her own capacity for several websites advancing the cause of women.
Thoughts on Delta:
2009 Fellow Annette Quarcoopome shares a few thoughts on her colleague’s work.
Two things about Delta inspire me: her powerful use of words, whether in writing or in speech, and her fiery personality. Her blog posts are always eloquent and never fail to move me. I bet she didn’t know I’ve been her online stalker. Interviewing Delta for Africa’s Finest has been an amazing learning experience for me. Her motivation and passion are contagious!
