Our maiden edition of WoMentoring in the Volta Region, was hosted on 7th May 2017 in Ho, the regional capital. The session was hosted and sponsored by Dr Mary Eyram Ashinyo at the Sky Plus Hotel, Ho. The WoMentoring series are brought to you by Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa, with support from The French Embassy in Ghana. Mentees received coaching on emotional intelligence/self mastery, excelling in one’s chosen field among other insightful topics. Your favourite girl talk was not left out. It was an exciting and impactful experience for these young women.

The mentees were drawn from the University of Allied Health, Ho Technical University and Central University. The mentor for this session was Dr Mary Eyram Ashinyo , the medical Director/ Superintendent at the Ho Poly Clinic, a 2015 Mandela Washington fellow and part of the 25 young Physician Leaders 2016 program. This session is to equip and engage young women to learn and share experiences with the mentor. The excitement shown by the mentees as they welcome their mentor Dr. Mary Eyram Ashinyo.

Another insightful aspect was when Dr. Ashinyo challenged mentees in identifying their values, interests, personality, skills, passion and qualification in order to choose a suitable career as well as excel in their chosen career.

Still on sharing experiences. One exciting section was when mentees (from the left Shine Edziah and Beatrice Azavu) shared their varied experiences on their strengths and how they overcame some weaknesses and phobias pertaining to their personal growth.
