Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa wishes to congratulate Ms. Gifty Oware-Aboagye, a 2010 MILEAD Fellow from Ghana, on her appointment as a member of the Ghana Football Association’s Management team for the Under 17 female national soccer team of Ghana – the Black Maidens.

Ms Oware-Aboagye, who is the Deputy Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme, was named as part of a six-member management team committee based on her passion for sports and support for the growth of women’s sporting activities in Ghana.

The MILEAD Fellows programme, instils in its alumnus the art of leading change with conviction. The rise of Gifty Oware-Aboagye to the position of a management committee member is testament to the everyday impact of our leadership training programme.

Instituted by the Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa, the MiLead fellows Network is a strong Pan-African Network of Africa’s most exceptional young women leaders from 48 countries and the diaspora. MILEAD Fellows represent some of Africa’s most extraordinary young women leaders with the courage and commitment to lead change on the African continent.

From poverty to women’s economic empowerment, environmental justice and political participation, this new generation of African women leaders are at the frontlines of the struggle for change – providing the bold, visionary and inspirational leadership needed to lift Africa to its rightful place on the global stage.

Gifty’s professional and social justice commitments have continued to uphold these values.

Since her selection as a MiLead fellow in 2010, Gifty’s leadership growth has served to give credit to our fellowship programme, and we celebrate her today as we do every day.
